We also wanted a standard 30 campground style connector where we could use our 30AMP to 50AMP dog bone connecting the generator to the 5th wheel. We wanted something around 100 pounds in total weight with battery start. This wattage was important to ensure we could run at least one air conditioner, the battery charger, a TV, the MoFi 4500, and the residential refrigerator at the same time. The Powerhorse 4500 Watt Inverter Generator as the name implies has a surge capacity of 4500 watts with a normal run time of 3500 watts. After much research for features, wattage capacity, and what would fit our budget, we selected a Northern Tool Powerhorse 4500 Watt Inverter Generator. We’re more confident we can manage our tank usage and the addition of an inverter generator will be perfect for days to week long stays off the grid with no power, water, sewer connections. Now with our new Keystone Montana, out tanks are almost twice the size. Trying to stay out for a week without any hook ups was challenging. We wanted to do some boondocking from time to time, but the Gateway had very small fresh, gray and black tanks. One drawback to an earlier purchase was our Gateway 5th wheel. We have been looking at inverter generators for our RV travels for some time.
